The Password

Bang!  Bang!

“Come on out!  We know that you are in there!”

Another bang rang out in my apartment as I staggered out of bed trying to figure out exactly what was going on.

“We are coming in if you like it or not!”

One more bang sent my door flying.  I halted while putting on my shirt as I heard men screaming and searching through my things.

“Let’s check the bedroom out.  I bet she is in there.”

I hustled my way out the window as the men entered the bedroom.  I then shimmied down the fire escape and dashed down the street until I thought it was safe.  I lived a pretty much a safe life and I have never experienced this before.  When all of my friends used to j-walk I would actually wait at the crosswalk.

“There she is!  Catch her before she gets away!”

I dashed across the street, with out using a crosswalk praying the cops didn’t see me, and entered an alley way.  My breathing was staggered, my sides were beginning to cramp, and my lungs were burning.

“What is going on?  People busting through my apartment screaming and hollering like I stole something and for what?” I thought to myself as I leaned against a brick building.

“Hey you what are you doing here!” a shadow screamed out my way. “I am not going to ask you again, what are you doing here?”  This time the figure ran up on me like a bat out of hell.

“What in the hell?!” I screamed out trying to push away from the mysterious man in drab and raggedy clothing.

His breath over powered me with a stench of onions, ass, and funky feet.  I nearly fainted with that smell alone.  His body screamed a collection of trash.

“Get off of me!  I have no idea what you are talking about,” as I was fighting for clean air.

“You are standing on my house!  Find your own lady or I will make you find your own,” he said as he pulled out a switch blade on me.

“Man you can have it.  I don’t want it anyway,” I dashed off trying to find another place to hide.  I traveled down the street towards the warehouse district.  I needed to get away and get away fast.  It was getting cold out and I needed to get to where I was going fast.

“Hey you can’t run forever!  Boys go get her, now!”

I darted in out of buildings, cars, and trees.  Heavy footsteps were following close behind.  I picked up speed and dashed into a warehouse.  I pulled opened the door and I was met by darkness.  My eyes were trying to adjust.  I put my arms straight out trying to find my way around.  I got half way in when the lights flooded the room.

“Hello Jamie.  I knew you were going to make it here one way or another.”

The men burst into the warehouse out of breath.  They held up their guns towards my way.

“What is going on here?  Is this a flipping set up?  Mary Ellen what is going on?  I thought we were cool?”  I screamed out.

“Yeah we were cool up until now that I don’t know need you.  Boys get her she has access to the password!”

Five men attacked me shoving me to the ground.  They hog tied me and they took the liberty in shaving my head.  Along my head there was a barcode.

“What a minute!  I’m the password?  What in the hell?!”  I screamed out.

“You see you were my little project.  You could get passed any security check, function like a human being, and keep secrets on that noggin of yours.  You were doing so well up until you started spilling out things that you shouldn’t,” Mary Ellen said as she pulled out a scanner from a nearby computer.

“What are you talking about?  The information you gave me I never blabbed to anyone, never.  You got to believe me.  I will never jeopardize you or myself in that matter.”

“Well someone close to you almost discovered our secret and I can’t have that happen.  So much is riding on you and what you know.  So with out further a do I will scan everything off your brain,” Mary Ellen said as she inched towards me.

My eyes widened and I tried to make a move to get away but I was pinned down and knocked out.  I tried to fight to remain consciousness, but I lost that battle.  I woke up back at my apartment exactly the way it was, neat and clean.

“What a weird dream, geesh.  Man my head hurts,” I said as I stepped out of bed yawning.

I looked into the mirror and inspected my new look and label.  “I guess Mary Ellen got what she wanted, the password to the secrets of being a true bitch.”
